USDA reports that company allowed unsafe products into the market

On Behalf of | Jun 28, 2017 | Product Liability

Many Kentucky residents will agree that going to the grocery store is like playing the lottery. In some cases, you never quite know what you are going to get. Some people choose the products they buy based on nutrition content, taste or mood. What no one feels they need to do is weed out unsafe products that could make them sick or even cause death.

Unfortunately, the website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is full of food recalls. Some of them are even given a Class I rating, which means that ingestion of a product could cause serious harm or death to a consumer. The USDA recently reported such a recall regarding beef ravioli products manufactured by the Wornick Company.

The Ohio-based company recalled around 61,538 pounds of its products due to undeclared allergens and misbranding. The labels on the products failed to divulge the fact that the products contain milk. The packages of beef wonton ravioli are sold at Sam’s Clubs under the Sam’s Choice brand. They were manufactured on Feb. 22 and March 28 of this year. So far, no reports of harm to consumers have been reported.

However, such claims could still come since the news of recalls sometimes fails to reach consumers in time. For many Kentucky residents, an allergy involves much more than itchy eyes or sneezes. The health consequences can be serious or fatal. For those who consume unsafe products such as the ones subject to this recall, it could mean a trip to the hospital or even death. If this happens, a civil action could be filed against the appropriate parties seeking restitution for the financial losses and other damages associated with the consumption of a tainted product.
