Multicookers recalled due to being unsafe products

On Behalf of | Mar 20, 2018 | Product Liability

Consumers in Kentucky who enjoy using Instant Pot multicookers may be taken aback by a recent recall involving these products. Specifically, Double Insight has recalled 104,000 of its Gem 65 8-in-1 multicookers. These devices were recently deemed unsafe products due to posing a fire hazard.

Multicookers are cooking appliances that are programmable and multi-functional. For instance, they can be used to cook or warm food in a variety of ways. However, the Double Insight devices that were recently recalled feature a manufacturer defect that may cause them to overheat.

If the cookers overheat, their underside areas can melt and thus potentially cause a fire. So far, Double Insight has received a total of 107 reports about overheating. Five of these incidences resulted in property damage, but injuries have not yet been reported. Consumers have been instructed to quit using the multicookers and to take them to Walmart, where they were exclusively sold, for full refunds. Alternatively, they can get in touch with Double Insight for free device replacements.

Sometimes, unsafe products make their way to store shelves and thus into consumers’ homes in Kentucky. Unfortunately, these products may end up causing serious injuries requiring medical attention when consumers use them. Those who suffer injuries due to using defective products may also find themselves having to miss work to recover from their injuries, which might pose financial challenges. Fortunately, these victims have the right to file product liability claims against the product manufacturers, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained due to using the dangerous products.
